hey so i guess i kinda forgot about LJ - sorry LJers! I'm afraid I have too much internetting to catch up on so my lj will prob be pretty inactive most of the time.

uhhh commissions are currently closed! I've got some pretty huge projects to work on that will take up most of my drawing time. I'll definitely be sharing what I can though!

Hey folks!

So this weekend starting on Friday evening is another of our KiKiBee meets! So I'll be working on commissions and personal art allll weekend. (commissions are still open too! see below)

Geoff and I are purposefully doing NOTHING this weekend (other than thanksgiving dindin on Sunday!) and it's amazing. We've been SO busy working overtime to pay off our debt, and then every weekend we have something we have to do - except this one! It's SO nice! I am working on commissions, it's so nice to just draw! :) We bought a bunch of junk food for this weekend too - good thing we play ultimate frisbee every week!

Right now we're catching up on all of Heroes, season 2. :3

And Tonks turns 1 on Oct 23rd. I'm so excited! We're gonna get a thing of canned dog food, and that dog gravy to put on top for a meat cake. And then we're gonna head to Bark & Fitz and get a nice new collar for her!

Anyway, back to it! Hope you have a great weekend, thanksgiving or not. :)

Hotay! So I'm at kina 's parents BEAUTFIUL new home with horsefeather ! We're at our quarterly KiKiBee meet and having so much fun, as we always do. :) kina also has her webcam set up in case you want to spy on us not-so-sneakily. Though sometimes she uses it to skype with her BF so it might be offline occaisionally. :3 If you do see us I'm the one with the blond dreads. You can always check out the history and see the last pics of us.

I'm still available for portrait commissions, and so far I seem to be pretty productive, and that was only for Friday night! :D hurrah! I love doing these portraits. :3

Finished another portrait commission!

Pretty happy with it too, trying out a different colouring style than normal. He's supposed to be ethereal & luminescent-ish, a VERY fun character to work with and try to get his personality across. I have a full body commission to do of him still so I'm excited to get going on that.

The Sunday after my birthday (b-day was on a Friday) I had four friends over and now I finally have dreadlocks!!! They look awesome, and I love 'em so much! It took 13 hours, and we watched Hellboy, Dawn of the Dead, Princess Mononoke, Mirror Mask and by the end of it we were all giddy and silly. Very fun!

It wasn't all a good day though. My mom called in tears telling me that they had to have Tucker put down. Very sudden, because of spleen cancer. We were with him on the Thursday before and you'd never know he felt bad. Poor boy... he was 11 years old (Golden Retriever) and I lived with him his whole life up until this past year. We all still miss him so much and though time is making it easier I still cry sometimes. This year we've lost Rocco and Tucker already...

Then the week after that we had to take Tonks (my 8 month old blue Great Dane) in to get spayed and have a gastropexy (preventative surgery where the stomach is tacked to the side of her rib cage to prevent torsion (flipping) of the stomach - common in Danes). Her surgery was on Monday, and it all went well but they kept her at the vet for another day because she had thrown up. She's doing fine but I worry about her still, mother's curse I guess.

And now two of our bosses are on vacation for a week and it's not going so well. I'm SO stressed out I feel like just sleeping until they come back. We have to have this episode done by the end of Monday and most people aren't even near done what they should be. Tomorrow I'm probably going to have to stay at work for a while... ungh.

Life has been so crazy this year, it feels like all I do is eat, sleep, work and generally not have any time whatsoever to myself. When I DO have free time I'm so mentally and physically exhausted that I don't feel like doing anything. August will be better. Must be optimistic...

Ok frig.
So I'm a dummie and didn't call earlier to make my hair appointment (need to get it dyed lighter again cuz it's not the colour I want yet), so the earliest she can take me is July 3rd. :( Day before my birthday. SO we can't dread on July 1st unless she calls back saying there is an opening, which I doubt will happen. So we'll do it on sat, July 5th now, if that's ok with melbegin, chriskasurak and toastmaster.

Oh and BTW, the house across the street from us is for sale and it's only listed at $179,000! I'm trying to get horsefeather to buy it, but if she doesn't, one of you should! :D DO IT.

ugh... I keep looking at all the beautiful dreaded people in get_up_dread_up and I feel like I'm NEVER gonna get 'em. >:(

I'm so excited, I'll be 24 in 15 days and most likely with DREADS! Finally! Man, my journal must be pretty boring because this is like all I talk about.

I'm going back for one more dying to get out the yellow and hopefully I'll be satisfied enough to start dreading! melbegin , chriskasurak and toastmaster have graciously agreed to help me do them, Geoff probably isn't because he doesn't support them at all... what an unsupportive husband! We've set a tentative dread-date for July 1st, Canada Day! Wheeeee I hope it all pans out!

wow this month has been BIZAY! I totally didnt even have stuff planned in advance but it STILL feels like there' no time for any me/us time... lame-o. Monday and Tuesday I went to Toronto because my great uncle died, super sad. He was 77 and he had survived cancer (twice I think!) and a stupid heart attack got him in the end. :( He will definitely be missed. Good thing about funerals is the family that comes together for support though, I met TONS of second cousins that I didn't really know were out there and they are ALL my age! We're having a reunion next Sept and I'm super excited for that to get to know everyone.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm having my sisters over (Manon, Sarah and Heather) over for a sleepover because our men are camping at what they call "Man Camp". Should be super fun and I can't wait for this shitty day to near it's end and be with the girls.

Dreads are on hold until I can get my hair the whitest possible so I don't have to deal with dyeing my hair after it's dreaded. Maybe another month? I friggin just WANT them NOOOOWWWW!!!

My super cute icon is from a commission that tomhoshino did for me and GOD she's awesome! Only $20 too! I totally recommend commissioning her if you can get one. Friggin best EVER!!!!

stuff & things

Woah. Considering we didn't have many plans for the end of May & June we seem to have been busier than ever! Though this past weekend was AWESOME as we made plans with no one and just did what we wanted, which we haven't done in months! Nice break, though I did have to do something that I didn't really want to (drawing of a house for a friend - I wanted to do it for him but it wasn't going well at first, yanno, the whole motivation thing) but I'm almost done that so I wont have to worry about it.

Tonight I'm getting my hair dyed back to my old platnum blonde, though I want it to be more ash/white than anything. I really REALLY liked it this past winter when I had it more as my natural colour, but I 100% prefer the look of blonde dreads - they look cleaner in my opinion. Keeping my roots dyed is going to be a pain (thats why I changed from the platnum in the first place) but I'm going to have to dread my hair as it grows anyways. I'm gonna buy the Dread kit from knottyboy.com and try to dread myself (I know, I'm crazy!), then if it's not going so well I'm going to have it done in Manitoba when we/if go there the first week of July. Geoff's cousin Trevor lives there and his looked fantastic when he had them so I might as well! Even if I do it all myself I can maybe get them to tidy them up if they need it. ANYWAY. Yah, I'm excited. :]

I'm playing Ultimate Frizbee every Thursday with Geoff's brothers & sister-in-laws and cousins and it's really fun! It feels good to be active and make me feel not so bad about not going to the gym - though I still should be, haha.

And thats it. No art to show yet, I'm currently working on like 4 different things though so if I can find some more time to work on them I'll post them/their progress. I'm so damn tired. :p

Didn't do ANYTHING other than veg today, which was well deserved. My eye was still twitching though, it's been three weeks! Need even more sleep I guess. I did sketch out something awesome but the program crashed and of course I didn't save it. Did some gardening and that was nice. We're doggysitting my parents 10 yr old golden retriever, Tucker, and Tonks kept pestering him to play, which he wasn't too excited about doing. He snapped at her finally though and now she seems to be giving him some space. Silly girl! She's almost 7 months old now... gosh does time fly.

Ungh, I hate when frigging programs frigging crash and don't frigging have auto save. EVERY ART PROGRAM SHOULD HAVE AUTO SAVE/AUTO BACKUP!!!! >:[

So I am definitely gettin dreads! Not until June sometime, OR July depending on the cost that places charge here. In July I'm going to Manitoba and that's where Trevor had his done for $180. I haven't called any places yet but I've been looking online, a place in Toronto charges $350! I'd do them myself, but I really don't wanna mess it up, and if I'm gonna do 'em I want 'em to look good! :} Gheee I'm so pumped! I am SO friggin glad I spoke to my boss about it, or else I probably would never get them ever - even though I've always wanted 'em! ♥

Anyone happen to know of a place in Ottawa that does real dreads?

I feel kinda blah right now. No real reason why, I guess it's mostly because I feel like I really REALLY need to draw but don't have the time... like I'm being held back against my will. We've been so busy after work each day for the past few weeks I haven't had much time. I mailed out a bunch of badges today though, so at least I'm a little productive. That should have been done ages ago though.

We have huge plans for our back yard, which is exciting. It's probably going to take us a few years to get it where we want it though. No grass and all garden, it's beautiful in my mind! I can just imagine us sitting in the garden by the creek and sketching while drinking some tea... mmm... and it's -1 right now. LAME.

I really miss Rocco sometimes. It just kind of hits me when I don't expect it and I feel like crying. He died in January but I still think that I hear his meow sometimes.

Ah well, I'm probably just tired. No one reads this anyway, right?

Oh and I AM getting dreads, just need to wait until after my cousin's wedding (in 2 months! EUGH!). I'm SO excited for them, I've been browsing through all the dread groups on facebook and LJ and gah. Can't wait! Geoff's cousin Trevor had them for three years and so he's been giving me advice and tips on 'em, directed me to the products he used and turns out that it's BETTER for the dreads to keep them clean, which makes sense. Anyway, promise I won't stink.

Here's to hoping that May is a lot less busy. :/

Also we gave Tonks her first bath today and it went pretty well! She is SO extra soft and shiny now, beauty! Also a few hours later I went upstairs to get my DS and she went with me and was snooping around in the bathroom. I told her she could go in the tub if she wanted and she stepped right in and stood in it for a few minutes smelling things! Def a good sign! Yaaaaay puppy!

We'd been ordering Vietnamese coffee at the Pho place near our work, and we bought some sweetened condensed milk today so Geoff made some, deelish!

Today has been AMAZING because we haven't had a chance to just be at home by ourselves in a month or so, so we're doing that today and it's wonderful. I might even sketch later on! yay! I'll post it if I do. :)

I'mmat work right now (mercuryfilmworks), the night supervisor is sick so I stayed home today but have to work till 12 tonight. I don't mind, no one has any questions so it makes my night relaxing! Not that questions/helping people is really that stressful... I tend to get panic-ey if someone asks me something that I THINK I don't know the answer to, when I really DO know the answer. Sometimes with this program it takes some fidgeting to get things to work and I doubt myself too much & too soon usually. Laaaaame.

Ungh I hate being shy... I'm really hungry but I'm worried that someone will be in the lunchroom and I'll have to... *gasp* COMMUNICATE! I'm so dumb, lawl. I just gonna do it frig. It's not like anyone is mean here anyways!

Sorry for not posting in so long, AND for all of you that are keeping your eye on this journal expecting art, I'm sorry to say that I have no arts to show, yet. I haven't drawn in weeks! :( i'm mostly finally over this cold and kikibee is next weekend (GLEE) so I'm def gonna be doing a bunch then! I'm so excited for it!
