My story: this gal ([info]modastrid) and I met through a community and hit it off, she was weird and cool and we both disliked the same people for the same reason (on a community) so we often PMed about that.

Then we had a disagreement, mostly when I saw her boasting about something she made in an ebay-seller warning post. And that really turns me off. A lot. It shaded my opinion of her in a totally different light. Ego and boasting in artists who sell their work just squicks me, big time.

But I decided to get past that, cause she still does some cool stuff. Then I saw her newest creations- animal pelts put into round necklace pendants (cabochons?) and I ordered one. It came with glue and dry skin sticking out of the top. I thought she had better crafstmanship than that. As a friend said to me: "visible glue is amatureish".

I ordered a 2nd one (mind you these were ordered and shipped at the same time, I had not seen the poor craftsmanship of the 1st yet) custom-made. I wanted a The Lion King inspired piece and I asked her to do a yin yang symbol of dark lion pelt and light warthog pelt. I was assured twice that they lay flush together:

Yeah they lay flat when they're glued down.

I asked for clarification: long post is long )

Hi all,
This is my experience with Exodite Dragon aka Astralabortion I just want to show everyone how difficult it can be with some artists. This really sucks cuz I REALLY dig his work.

Short version: We talked online about two commission. He gave me the price of $200, I paid him on 3/31/09, on 7/13/09 he said he wouldn't do it, and finally get my money back 9 months after original payment on 12/19/09 (today)

New conbadge for [info]skorzy. This was one of my Christmas presents to him.

The backstory behind this is, we were getting ready to settle in and watch a movie, and he comes upstairs holding all these snackfoods and drinks for us. But the way he was delicately cradling them it looked like they were all for himself and he was getting ready to settle in for an evening of gluttony, so I said in a very hurf-durfy voice "SNAAAACKS" and he just about lost it.

So yeah, ratty likes to nom.

Holy moly, next time I have to remember that I'm not a cat: landing on my feet is a no-no! :(

I had a bit of an accident last night while indoor climbing. I was at the top of a bouldering route when I decided to let myself fall on the mat below (about 9 feet), but unfortunately I landed standing on my right leg, which in turn popped my knee.

It was SO painful at first! I remember thinking I'd messed up a muscle, because that's what hurt the most; kind of like having a horriblehorrible cramp that just won't let go! Luckily for me one of the climbers nearby came right away to help, told me he was either a paramedic or trained in first aid (I forget which), and by applying some pressure on my leg he made my knee pop back in place! Immediately the pain was almost gone. He still urged me to go see a doctor ASAP, to make sure there wasn't any serious damage.

After dinner Alex and I went to the emergency room to get it looked at. The doctor checked my knee for any muscle and ligament damage (didn't find any), then had some X-rays done to make sure the bones were OK. Everything came out normal, thankfully! Even as I look at my right knee, it looks normal: no swelling, no bruising, nothing. It's almost as if nothing happened, except for the pain. Even then, it only hurts when I walk and when I flex my foot upward.

So right now I'm just taking it easy, putting ice on my knee and taking pain killers when the pain is too much.

All in all I feel extremely lucky, considering how much worse it could have been. I'm hoping that (as the doctor said) the knee will heal on its own in a few days and go back to normal.

Phew! That was scary!

I was interested in selling home made knitted scarfs and hats, eventually moving up to blankets and what have you when I get larger needles.

I've been watching on here and often I've seen in the past advice on acquiring a TOS. I must be super slow, because after an hour of searching, I could not find these comments. As I am new to selling things online like this, I wanted to set up a TOS, for both me and the customer. I want them to know whats going on as much as I would want to, and I know reading over something like that would help.

What exactly should one put in a TOS though? I'm not fully sure.

I am sorry if you'd rather I not ask this here, but I know that you guys have it down pat what to do. I saw that advice asking is still ok, but did not see an update on the profile or a mod-post on what is exactly permitted.

I did google it, by the way. Didn't come up with any kind of helpful guide or anything.
Thank you in advanced.

Edit #1 - Oh man, thank you for all the advice. I have to actually sit down and put something together, so I'll upload my idea after its finished.

Here's one more drawing up for sale that I just finished. I don't know how many people know this, but I used to be horribly obsessed with dragons when I was in high school. It was only during my senior year that wolves began to take over my psyche, but I still love dragons and simply do not draw them enough. I am thinking I will probably do a colored version of this one as well in the near future ^.^ This one is priced slightly higher since those scales are a bitch to draw! Please e-mail me at golden(at)goldenwolfen.com if you want this one!

Not that I've been posting enough lately for anyone to really notice my absence, but I moved a week and a half ago with my roommate, Eira, and money's been tight so we haven't gotten internet at the new place yet. I'm still trying to find another job, been keeping an eye (kinda) on craigslist and replying to job postings there. I may have a lead... basically taking half of my boyfriend's hours, since he's working 90+ a week, and has been for the past 7 weeks or so. That was supposed to be really temporary, a week or two until they found someone else to cover the weekend shift- a 48-hour stretch from 11pm friday night to 11pm sunday night. Long story short they still haven't found anyone, and I desperately need a full time job, and my bf desperately needs a couple days off, and on a regular basis. I had tried to get a job with nick initially back in march or april, and was not quite able to lift him at that time. I could, I mean, but the situation was weird, I thought I was supposed to be transferring him to his chair when apparently I was just supposed to be lifting him up to see if I could, and andrew was supposed to stay in the room but he disappeared and I dunno. I haven't exactly been working out all this time since then, but between working with Vanessa and what little working out I have done, I may already be in a better physical shape to lift him, and I know with a little practice and effort I really could do it. And working with Nick, I actually would get paid, since he's a lot more on top of his medical and disability stuff and has other funding sources, as well. Plus I know my bf's getting hella exhausted and the pressure is on to find someone for the weekend shift. It'd be SO nice to get a full 48 hours a week, and still have 5 days in a row to work on other stuff. I haven't talked to nick at all about it yet, so I don't know if he'll go for it, but I'm pretty hopeful about it and really it'd be good for everyone involved I think.

Anyway, that's what's going on with me lately, in a nutshell.

I've also been reading the DUNE books again, just finished book 4 (God Emperor) and started rereading it a couple days ago. Don't have book 5 yet, but then again, I'm sitting in a library currently. Spend $4 for my own paperback or borrow a hardcover for free? I do want my own copy eventually, and I prefer paperbacks anyway because they're small and convenient to carry, but I'm poor right now. That $4 could get me a bart ticket or like, a box of cereal or some eggs. >__>

I finally ordered some stuff with the amazon gift card my mom sent me for my birthday. I'm getting a 12" iron Skillet (eggs taste awful on nonstick pans, I have discovered over the past week), a 16" wok, and an 8 cup rice steamer. With some left on the card for a book or something else a little down the line. Exciting. =3

Anyway, I should get back to the craigslist ads... I'm supposed to be responding to at least four a day and I've only gotten one so far today. =P *whipcrack*
